3 Reasons Why your AC is Blowing Warm Air

Back to All Articles

Worried about the less than ideal performance of your air conditioner in the summer heat? Let’s discuss a few reasons why it might be malfunctioning. Warm air can be produced by an air conditioning unit when it has one of the problems discussed below. We will also fill you in on how you can solve or prevent that issue.

Dirty Air Filters

When a lot of dust and debris collects in the air filters of your car or home AC, the cold air is trapped between the evaporator coil and the air filters. Thus, it cannot be dispensed to your surroundings, which eventually remain hot.

You might even feel like the congestion is increasing with time as more and more debris collects. Cleaning or changing the air filters regularly or hiring a maintenance team to visit your house can help you solve and prevent this issue. This can be especially imporant in the summer months.

Frozen Evaporator Coil

It can be a consequence of the problem discussed above. The evaporator coil is the main element of your AC’s technology which produces the cold air. When it is frozen or covered by ice itself, it stops doing its job altogether.

Cleaning the air filters will also prevent this problem from occurring. Dirty air filters trap the cold air and cause the evaporator coils to freeze.

Thermostat Setting Errors

Setting a thermostat is easy, but many people make mistakes with it which can disturb the environment. Make sure to check the thermostat settings to detect the cause of the warmth in your AC’s surroundings. 18° Celsius is the suggested thermostat setting for bedrooms, and you can go up to 25° in living rooms.
